The set includes data from the leaders of Polish NGOs who participated in the validation study on the psychometric properties of the Inventory of Leader’s Attitudes Towards Social Innovation (IATSI-L). The study was conducted using a cross-validation model.
The selection of organisations from such gminas increased the likelihood of involving paternalistic leaders in the sample. It was anticipated that their attitudes towards social innovation would have a particular impact on readiness of organisations to implement social innovation. The sample did not include organisations from urban gminas, where paternalistic leaders are less common, or from local action group.
Multi-stage sampling was applied. In the first stage, gminas were selected from a population of 1559 rural gminas. For this purpose, a layered sampling without returning with a proportional allocation was used. With a confidence level of .95 and an estimation error of p = .05, a sample of 330 gminas was drawn. In the second stage, organisations from the population of NGOs located within the territory of the 330 rural gminas drawn were selected. The sampling frame was based on data from the Central Statistical Office. The list included only organisations that had made their addresses and contact telephone numbers public. In the four weeks preceding the survey, the resulting list was reviewed in order to determine the number of organisations working to solve social problems among the inhabitants of the various gminas. Before an organisation was included in the sample, there needed to be confirmation that its activities involved solving social problems. From the original number of NGOs identified, 817 remained, which equated to 817 leaders from those organisations. From this set the 160 participants (leaders of the organisations who make most of the decisions related to the NGO’s functioning) were randomly selected. To control for the absolute stability of the test, 66 of the 160 respondents were asked to answer the IATSI-L twice.
