Polskie Generalne Studium Wyborcze (PGSW) to pionierska w Polsce inicjatywa, majšca na celu rzetelnš rejestrację i analizę najważniejszych wydarzeń politycznych w kraju - wyborów parlamentarnych. Stanowi odpowiednik prowadzonych w większoci starych demokracji, przy okazji ogólnokrajowych wyborów, badań empirycznych stanowišcych swoisty kanon w dziedzinie socjologii polityki i nauk o polityce. Poprzez swš powtarzalnoć oraz znacznš liczebnoć próby jest jednym z najważniejszych przedsięwzięć badawczych w tej dziedzinie w kraju. Pozwala na analizy ""historyczne"", analiz trendów i dynamiki postaw oraz wiadomoci politycznej współczesnych Polaków.
Wyniki PGSW s porównywalne międzynarodowo. Narzędzie badawcze zastosowane w PGSW zawiera między innymi moduł CSES (Comparative Study of Electoral Systems) - porównawczego projektu badawczego, zainicjowanego przez ICORE, obecnie obejmujšcego swoim zasięgiem około 50 systemów politycznych państw ze wszystkich kontynentów.
