CBOS co miesiąc realizuje sondaż "Aktualne problemy i wydarzenia" (na ok. 1000-osobowej próbie dorosłych mieszkańców Polski), uzupełniany - zależnie od potrzeb - przez specjalne badania jednorazowe. Rocznie CBOS publikuje od 160 do 200 komunikatów z badań, które obejmują wszystkie istotne dla społeczeństwa polskiego problemy, oraz wydaje opracowania monograficzne i książkowe. Syntezę najważniejszych wyników badań przeglądowych można znaleźć w serii "Opinie i Diagnozy" oraz w anglojęzycznej serii "Polish Public Opinion".
